Tom Ford Beau de Jour (2019, later reissued in EDP and Parfum) is a real, well-known release: a classic aromatic lavender fougere / barbershop scent built on lavender, rosemary, mint, geranium and basil over oakmoss, patchouli and amber. It is deliberately retro, and the community consensus is unusual: rather than a stable of dedicated clone-house dupes (as with something like Baccarat Rouge 540), the repeated advice across Fragrantica, Basenotes and multiple guide articles is that Beau de Jour is essentially a modern, slightly sweeter/greener reworking of older barbershop fougeres, so the cheapest way to 'get' it is to buy those classics. The most-cited alternative by a wide margin is Davidoff Zino (which reviewers, and reportedly the perfumer, tie directly to Beau de Jour) followed by Azzaro Pour Homme; both are far cheaper but are genre ancestors rather than true copies, and Zino is discontinued with weak performance. The one genuine budget clone-house entry with real corroboration is Alexandria Fragrances' Dapper 1959, praised for the same barbershop-fougere character with far better longevity, though noted as sitting a touch closer to Zino than to Beau de Jour's slightly sweeter, more floral profile. Honest caveats: no dupe is an exact 1:1 match, all are 'same-genre/same-vibe' rather than identical, and dedicated Arabic clone-house (Lattafa/Armaf/Maison Alhambra) versions did not surface with meaningful independent consensus, so they were excluded.
